Sightings whilst at Weir Wood doing the feeders this morning. The shallower parts of the reservoir at the West End had a covering of ice.
West End:-  12 Great Crested Grebe, 2 Grey Herons up at a nest in the heronry, 7 Greylag, 1 Egyptian Goose, 1 Teal, 1m Pochard, 14 Mallard, 36 Black-headed Gull standing on some partially frozen reservoir ice.
Feeders:- 1 Nuthatch, 1 Great Spotted Woodpecker, 3 Robins, 1 Dunnock, 2 Blackbirds, 1 Marsh Tit, 8+ Blue Tit, 3+ Great Tit, 6+ Goldfinch, 2+ Chaffinch.
Whillet’s:- 1 Kingfisher, Green Woodpecker heard, 1 Wren.

West End:- 1 Firecrest in bushes by lay-by, 1 Little Egret, 1 Gadwall, 2 Tufted Duck, 2 Wigeon, 3 Marsh Tits on feeders.
The heronry was even busier today with 8 nests claimed.

Whillet’s:- 1 Barn Owl, 1 high flyover Goshawk, Water Rail and Green Woodpecker heard, 2 Bullfinch, 3 Song Thrush.  Also a Fox seen (which was limping on a front leg).
Dam end:- 1 Mute Swan, 1 Common Gull, 19 Great Crested Grebe. Also 1 Muntjac on North bank and 1 Roe Deer near Club Car Park.

West End:- 1 Little Grebe, 4 Great Crested Grebe, 1 Mute Swan, 193 Greylag, 1 Canada Goose, 3 white feral Geese, 13 Mallard, 3m Pochard, 1m+1f Gadwall, 2 Mandarin, 2 Buzzard, 1 Marsh Tit plus other usuals around feeders.
Whillet’s:- 1 Barn Owl.

West End:- 101 Greylag + 3 white feral Geese, 2m+1f Wigeon, 2m+2f Gadwall, 4 Mallard, 2m Pochard, 1m+1f Tufted Duck, 2 Great Crested Grebe, 4 Cormorant, 3 Moorhen, 1 Goldcrest.
Feeders:- 1 Marsh Tit, 3 Goldfinch, 5+ Blue Tit and Great Tit.
Whillet’s:- 2 flyover Canada Geese, 10 Pheasant, Moorhen and Water Rail heard, 1 Jay flyover, Tawny Owl and Great Spotted Woodpecker heard,  22 Long-tailed Tits.
Reed-bed Roost counts between 14:40 to 16:40 – total of 111 Reed Buntings with biggest single flock of 8; 1410 Starlings from 21 separate flocks with later ones up to 30’s the biggest flock entering was c.360.

West End:- 10 Mandarin, 6 Snipe, 2 Coot, 14 Mallard, 2 Egyptian Geese, 1 Grey Heron, 20 Cormorant, 1 Marsh Tit, 30 Siskin, 7 Chaffinch, 20 Lesser Redpoll, 13 Bullfinch, 3 Common Gull, 1 Sparrowhawk, 2 Jay, 4 Magpie, 1 Little Egret.
Waterworks Lagoon:- 2 Wigeon, 3 Little Grebe, 1 immature Mute Swan.
Dam End:- 27 Redwing and 2 Fieldfare in Horse Paddock, 1 Grey Wagtail.
